50' offshore cruising yacht, 1996

Built in Romania using the expertise of Bureau Veritas, this yacht was designed to take a whole family around the world in any seas.

Knowing we could trust the owner-skipper’s high level of seamanship gave us the ideal opportunity to propose high-performance specs on sail plan, centreboard and rudders, mainly on aspect ratios. At the same time this cruiser offers true upwind performance, which is rarely the case on such heavy boats, although obviously also a safety bonus!

The choice of the main material (steel) was dictated by the necessity that the boat be repairable easily anywhere around the planet.

Inside, we worked on three main criteria: space, space and space. The generous beam was carefully integrated with other parameters for optimum safety. And as none of the clients were over 1.78m tall, there was no need to build a voluminous roof, so the deck could stay flush and clean.
