- 5.5mIC Furer-Wilke 1993 (our 3rd 5.5 design generation)
This project was a milestone in that it was our first collaboration with Christof Wilke as builder, and our last with Philippe Meier as co-architect.
Hull shape and sail area were tailored for racing in a strong breeze; although after two full seasons’ racing these boats we had concluded that light air to medium boats are easier to race in the breeze than the other way around. Anyway, the boat then won one European championship in 1994 in Cannes, and finished third and fourth in the worlds 1996 in Muiden (NED)...
Four units have been built :
- SUI-187 The Sting for Ruedi Furer (then ?)
- SUI-188 Baba Jaga for Christof Wilke (then dito to Bernard Haissly)
- SUI-194 Marie-Francoise X for Jurg Menzi (then ?)
- SUI-195 Fortuna for Bruno Barthlomé
