- 30' Lake Geneva catamaran Virus, 1987
Our first experience of full carbon-fibre construction, this boat was designed specifically for the Lake Geneva 30ft class.
It gave us a great opportunity to test some new concepts, such as the self-tacking boomed Solent and the free-flying foresail luff, without any fixed forestay. Plus we experimented with using two shrouds run down to each hull in such a way as to induce torsion in the platform when heeling.
Another option was taken with racks fitted to allow the boat to be heeled onto one hull in very light winds, while being able at the same time to conserve high righting moment when needed in heavy air.
In 2004 the boat was still sailing on Lake Geneva under the name Mary (SUI-1109).
