5.5mIC Wilke 2006-2007

Two orders placed around the same time, one from Jussi Gullichsen (FIN) and the second from Bruno Marazzi (SUI), allowed us to invest at last in finite element analysis, which was ably undertaken by Hervé Devaux Structures in Brest (FRA).

Our aim was to optimise stiffness in some directions and to allow some flex in others, playing with the materials allowed by the rules (only glass, no carbon) and their distribution. Obviously, due respect was paid to the minimum weight panel of 9.75kg/m2, which is, for the record, almost the same as for the IACC, three times bigger and 10 times heavier (strength is not a problem on a 5.5…).

> FIN-49 Addam4 for Jussi Gullichsen

> To follow SUI-? Ali-Baba for Bruno Marazzi
