Luthi 39' cruiser-racer Guapa, class 2, 2003

Such a difficult list of job specifications, such a tough cahier des charges successfully achieved. With Olivier Lüthi nothing is impossible...

Indeed, this yacht should be able to win in class 2 ACVL, which means having at least high-aspect ratio appendages and performing rig and deck-layout, while at the same time staying cool and comfortable. This even during double-handled cruises in winter around the furthest reaches of Lake Neuchatel, which calls for the exact opposite: a comfortable cockpit and interior (with heating, double bed, and more) and a low draft (canting and lift keel)…

PS To get from one part of the lake to another, the boat has to go under a low bridge where it is necessary to cant the mast aft with a special device and a hinge at mast step on the cabin roof.

PPS the mooring in the channel in front of the house is shorter than the desired hull length, so the aft part of the hull is foldable.

And all that on a tight budget…
